Mark and I have colds… and our little toddler (almost 2) coughs through the night right now  – I really hope your health is better than our family’s at the moment… to banish the June blues, I guess we could write and record a wicked as song complete with 2 year old whining!! The Storm from the night before and resulting power cut had us on Wednesday night seeking out the closest place with candles and matches for sale and a food-court with power, lights, …

November 2012 News Update: Thank You

Thank you very much indeed for helping us win the 2012 People’s Choice Awards for best Nationwide Audio Visual Hire! The original reason we started the Rock Factory was to help and support bands in our community who don’t always have a lot of money. We moved into corporate work to enable us to keep doing what we love, and it turns out that corporate work is a pleasure to do as well! We count ourselves so lucky that we get to do both these days, and feel appreciated by both musicians and corporate clients. Without your support we couldn’t …

October News: Rocktober*

Before we get into it, just a gentle reminder to not miss your chance to cast your vote for us at this year’s People’s Choice Awards! Secondly, let me make a quick announcement: We had a cancellation and are now free on Labour Weekend – first come, first serve! Labour Weekend is usually booked out about six months in advance as first long weekend of spring. If you get in touch quickly, we’ll be able to help you last minute! In somewhat related news, we’re growing and growing, which means can now provide you with two full production set ups. …

August 2012 News: Bright Lights And Lullabies

It’s been over 2 months that we’ve said hi, and boy, have we been busy! Meet our latest acquisition to the right of this article – his name is Peter and he’s been keeping Mark and Michelle well on their toes! I think we’ll keep him. Apart from baby related things, we’ve been busy with many Re-orientation events at AUT, MIT and Uni of Auckland’s Shadows Tavern. Congratulations to the good people at the Wynyard Quarter/Silo Park, who recently celebrated their first anniversary! Can we even remember the area before the re-development last year? Everything they put on there has …

July 2012 News: Not Long ‘Til Spring!

Life has been busy at Casa Rock Factory! By now we’ve had a few months time to play with the new line array, and it really does sound great. You would have seen it at the most recent Silo Sessions & Markets – our favourite one in the last few weeks was Weird Together’s World Together gig. Apart from our work at Silo Park, our next big stop will be Tertiary Institutions’ Reorientation, meaning we’re moving steadily towards spring again! Now, don’t panic, but this is probably a good point in time to remind you to book the sound, staging and marquees for …

April 2012 News: Bye Bye Summer, Hello Music Month!

Ahhh what a good summer it’s been after all! How was yours? We were so busy, getting to work at some great events, notably anything you would have seen at Silo Park, like all movie nights and concerts, including the 95bFM Summer Series! We set up gigs on top of a volcano in the rain at Devonstock, got the crowd dancing at Elvis In The Gardens, put up a stage at Round The Bays, could be found lighting fashion shows, did some touring, and that’s just a fraction of the things we’ve done! Boy, we’ve been busy! Next stop Music Month – have you already booked your …

January News: What We Did On Our Holidays

Christmas Carols A nice lead up to Christmas was us doing sound for beautiful choirs as part of carol services for two schools at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. We recorded the choir of a third school in their own chapel and they plan to make a cd from it. The beautiful voices make the recordings sound amazing. Summer Road Trips The Rock Factory team (including ‘Tailor the Ten Tonne Truck’, and a morning-sick Michelle) braved the savage rains and windy roads to travel to Coromandel for New Years. For New Years Eve M & M (Mark and Michelle) jumped in …
