Live Production FAQ
Traditionally, the weekly rate is the charge for 3 days. For DRY HIRE ONLY (you pick up and return), we charge half price for the 2nd and 3rd days, so you only pay for 2 x the day rate for the whole week!
We have special rates if you need to hire for long-term “lease” for example a bar installed sound system for 6 months for example we would charge the DAY rate ONCE A WEEK… you get the system for the whole week for the price of one night.
For safety reasons, we do not usually provide stages over 100cm high. Our usual stage height options are 30cm, 50cm, 60cm or 90cm. We also have some 40, 70 and 80cm legs.
We can make higher stages BUT they require us to build a handrail which will cost extra.
In the old days of conventional lights – Each par 56 can required 300 watts. 300 x 8 = 2400 watts.
Now, most lights are LED, and have lower power requirements. A 100 watt moving head is pretty powerful and impressive looking. Check out our Chauvet Intimidator Spot 360 Moving heads available for hire.
No, it is not because the whole drum kit comes as a package. So if just the kick and snare and floor tom are hired, then the other rack toms cannot be used elsewhere, so the price remains the same. Our Pearl, Gretsch and DW collector series drum kits are all top-of-the-line drum kits worth between 5k and 20k for the shells alone.
This varies based on the size of the stage required, hire length, whether you require set-up and delivery, and other factors. See our stage hire page or contact us for more specific information.
A Technical Rider is a list of requirements for an event. We have a whole page here dedicated to answering this question, and also to help bands and musicians prepare one of their own to distribute when they are booked on events.

Recording Studio FAQ
Usually at least a half day or 4 hour minimum applies. Please contact us for a quote.
The price is dependant on whom is doing the recording session for you, and this can be finalised when the recording studio engineer is confirmed for the booking.
This is highly band dependant. If you are well rehearsed and the song is all ready to go this will be shorter. Then there is also the difference between Live Recording and Overdubbeed recording.
For a single that is to be released the normal way to go is overdubbed recording, so I will base the answer to this question on this.
We usually set aside 2 to 3 days to finish a single. 1 to 1.5 days tracking all the instruments and 1 to 1.5 days for mixing and mastering.
We charge $60+GST per hour.
Yes. If you book 3 days in the same week (8 hours per day) you get 10% off the total. If you book 5 days in the same week (week days, 8 hours a day) you get 15% off the total.
DIY Recording and Home Recording FAQ
We often get asked by bands what is the best free or cheap multitrack recording software out there for DIY recording. I suggest you check out Reaper here: http://www.cockos.com/reaper/ . I like Reaper because it has the functionality of both Protools and Adobe Audition… my two favourite programs, and it is ridiculously cheap for what it is capable of doing.
If you are on a Mac, then Logic and Garage Band are also a good programs to start with.
Studio One, Ableton and Fruity Loops are worth a mention too as they are all easy to use and great for certain settings.
I recommend downloading them all and finding the one that suits your work flow.
Send us each song as an already mixed-down Stereo Wave file. Just make sure that the songs are not already “peaking” anywhere so that we can master them to their full potential.
