Wireless Microphone Hire

Rent Wireless Microphones in Auckland.

Do you need to hire a wireless microphone for your next event or production? The Rock Factory in Auckland has you covered. We rent wireless microphones and wireless systems from top brands.

Types of Wireless Systems available for Hire

A wireless system consists of wireless transmitters and receivers, allowing audio to be sent to and from a mixing desk without tethering performers to cables.

Popular use cases are:

  • wireless microphones allowing speakers or performers to move freely
  • wireless instruments allowing musicians to roam the stage
  • in-ear monitoring allowing performers to move freely while hearing a clear audio feed from the mixing desk

Handheld Wireless Microphones

The Rock Factory offers a range of high quality wireless microphones for hire.  Wireless microphones have the transmitter built into the body of the microphone, making a seperate cord or body pack unnecessary. Our wireless microphone stock includes popular professional brands:

  • Shure
  • Sennheiser
  • Mipro

Headset Microphones

A headset microphone is worn on the head with the microphone close to the mouth.  Headset microphones are subtle and unobtrusive, and enable a performer or speaker to move about and move their hands, without worrying about holding a microphone or remaining near a microphone stand.

Most headset mics require a belt pack carrying the transmitter.

We hire wireless headset microphones from brands:

  • Shure
  • Sennheiser
  • Countryman
  • Point Source Audio

Lapel Microphones

A lapel mic attaches to the clothing or lapel with a small clip.  In some theatre performances they are carefully positioned in the hair.  Lapel microphones are small and unobtrusive, making them ideal for speaking engagements, theatre, and stage.

Most lapel mics require a belt pack for carrying the transmitter.

We hire lapel mics from brands:

  • Sennheiser
  • Countryman
  • Rode
  • DPA
  • Mipro

Wireless Packs for any Microphone

Convert any microphone to wireless.  Simply plug in a transmitter instead of a microphone cable.  So not only can you rent wireless microphones, but you could also convert your own favourite microphone with our transmitters.

Wireless Instrument Packs

Adding a transmitter in a beltpack can make most instruments wireless.  Plug your guitar, bass, keytar, or electric violin into the transmitter, and you will be free to roam the stage during your performance.

Acoustic instruments can also be amplified wirelessly, by using a wireless microphone or adding a piezo pick-up and transmitter.

In Ear Monitoring Systems (IEMS)

In ear monitoring systems receive an audio feed from the mixing desk and deliver it straight to your ears. This allows you to hear wherever you are on stage.

We hire the Sennheiser EW300 Series In Ear Monitoring System, and are confident in its ability to supply high quality sound to performers.

Benefits of Wireless Systems

Hand Held Wireless Mics give you Freedom to Roam

Wireless systems allow a performer to roam across the stage or around a room without risking a tangle of cables.  This is ideal for performers who don’t want to be tied to a microphone stand.  A wireless handheld microphone is ideal for those who want to easily hand the microphone over to another speaker or performer.

Lapel and Headset Mics give you Freedom to use your Hands

Headset and Lapel microphones have an advantage of a hand-held wireless mic, they are essentially ‘hands free’.   A performer can express themselves easily with their hands, or play an instrument, while moving about the stage.

However, they are not so easy to hand over to another performer.  A hand-held wireless microphone may be preferred ff a microphone needs to be passed around, such as for speeches at a wedding.

Events that benefit from Wireless Microphone Hire

Concerts, Festival and Gigs

Don’t let cables restrict your performance.  With a wireless set-up you can give your best performance.  Use in-ear monitoring and wireless mics and instruments together to ensure you can be heard as you move.

Weddings

Subtle lapel mics can ensure your guests catch every word of your service.

At the reception, hand held wireless microphones make it easy to pass the mic among speakers.

And don’t forget to rent wireless microphones for your wedding band!

Corporate Events

Wireless systems can ensure your corporate events run smoothly.  Provide a headset or lapel mic to your engaging speakers, allowing them to fully use body language and gestures to get their points across hands-free.  Need to pass a microphone around many impromptu speakers?  Consider a handheld wireless.

Theatre

Provide each actor with a lapel or headset mic to boost volume and ensure your audience hears every word.

Schools

From assemblies, to school productions and cultural events.  Wireless systems can help you deliver great audio, without restricting the movement of speakers and performers.

Gym, Dance, Yoga, and Fitness

The classic use case for a wireless headset or lapel mic, being able to speak (or sing) to your audience while being extremely active at the same time.  Hire a wireless microphone for your next active event.

Technical Support and Interference Minimisation

How do Wireless Systems Work?

Wireless Systems convert an audio signal to a wireless signal (radio signal), then send it from a transmitter to a receiver.

For a wireless microphone, the transmitter is at the microphone end and the receiver is at the mixing desk.

For in-ear monitoring, the transmitter is at the mixing desk and the receiver is on the performer.

Is interference an issue?

Wireless Systems need to be set up correctly to avoid interference. We can advice you on your set-up when you rent wireless microphones or in-ear monitoring systems from us.

The Rock Factory can use a frequency analyser to choose the right frequencies for the wireless signal, to avoid interference at your event.

Frequency Regulations and Legal Requirements

Since March 2015, NZ has prohibited the use of a significant portion of wireless and radio microphones.  The frequencies between 698-806 MHz are now solely allocated to digital TV.

These new ranges include:

  • 502 to 606 MHz and
  • 622 to 697 MHz (B band)

The Rock Factory only hire microphones that use the new legal frequencies.

Our Shure QLXD digital wireless systems are in the former range and most of our Sennheiser Wireless Systems are in the latter range (B band). We have mipro wireless system in both bands.

If you have any wireless or radio microphones operating on the old frequencies, it is imperative that you replace, exchange, or upgrade them as they are no longer legal.

We are here to assist you in finding replacement cordless microphones or trading in your outdated wireless microphone for new ones that operate within the new legal frequency ranges.
