💡 Lighting Pro-Tip: What kind of lights do I actually need?

Lighting terminology can be confusing! Here is a quick guide to help you find exactly what you need:

  • Atmospheric Uplighting (Par Cans or wall wash lights): The absolute easiest way to transform a plain room. Place these around the perimeter of your venue to wash the walls in your event’s theme colours. Great for weddings and balls.

  • Party & Disco Lights: Perfect for dance floors, and DJs. These fixtures can be set to sound-activated, meaning they automatically change color and move to the beat of the music!

  • Concert & Show Lighting: Moving heads (choose between Wash, Spot or Beam), blinders, Led bar lights, strobes, LED Par cans on truss stands and follow spots for bands, theatre productions, larger events with DJs (e.g balls or Festivals) and professional gigs.

  • Special FX: Want to make your light beams visible in mid-air? Add a smoke machine or hazer to your booking!

Lighting Hire for your Event – Hire Stage Lighting:

Our lighting equipment ranges from low-power LED lights to high-powered conventional show lighting. We have a range of moving heads that can make any show more exciting and dynamic. If you’re looking for a spotlight effect for a comedian or performer, our follow spot is the perfect solution. Additionally, our lighting options are ideal for school concert production hire and any events that require a stage to be lit up. We also have some hire lighting desk options available, or we can show you how to run the hire stage lighting using a laptop with DMX dongle.

We often deliver and set up stage lighting hire in local venues such as Galatos, Hollywood Theatre and Whammy Bar. Let us organise a lighting rig and lighting operator or technician for your band tour or show.

Par Cans for stage wash and atmospheric uplighting hire:

    • PAR64 LED Par Cans – RGBWA/UV – Extra Bright Can, Medium wide Red, Green, Blue, White, Amber and UV – Warm White and UV capable.
    • LED Par64 Cans – RGBWA – Extra Bright Can, Medium wide Red, Green, Blue, White and Amber – Warm White capable. The flat pars are our current go-to for stage lighting hire as they are compact and effective. They also work great for atmospheric uplighting around the venue and at the back of the stage.
    • Flat par 64 LED cans are probably our most popular and compact option for hire stage lighting or hire event lighting. Easy to place and easy to rig on stands or on pipes in the roof.
    • PAR64 LED Par Cans COB – RGB Extra Bright Wide width with short throw (great for lighting up a wide area that are not very far away – two of these will cover a small stage).
    • Older Par64 LED cans are simple to use, can do many colours and are great for uplighting. We can provide these on floor stands or with clamps.
    • Conventional Par56 cans  (note: dimmer required to run these).
    • Conventional Par64 cans  (note: dimmer required to run these).
    • ProPar cans with interchangeable lenses and barn doors.

    • DMX controllable Dimmer bar (4 sockets up to 8 cans can run of this).

Special Stage Lighting Hire, Stage Light hire and Effects (FX):

    • LED Strip lights, 1 meter long RGB + strobe capable.
    • Blinders
    • LED Blinders: 2-way, bright – Warm white capable, a favourite effect for bands and DJs as part of their stage lighting hire.
    • Strobe hire, popular with bands!
    • LED Moving heads such as the Chauvet Spot 360.
    • Party lights or Disco lights for the dance floor or general moving colours.
    • Follow spot, a defined edge spotlight complete with stand. This hire stage lighting option is a favourite for stages and events with catwalks or the classic comedy spot or for spotting a grand piano for example. It also works well as a front light option if there is no place to rig lighting in the room. Just place the followspot right at the back of the room and use the large spot to light the choir or people onstage.
    • Green laser light hire.
    • Red laser.

    • Its possible to control the smoke or haze machine via a hire lighting desk if it has DMX control capability.
    • Light rigging options such as quad truss, scaff pipe, couplings, and clamps with safety ties.
    • Gravity Stands – These vertical lighting stands are perfect for clamping lights on all around the stage.
    • Lighting stands with a t-bar or clamps for holding a dimmer bar.
